Winter Narrow Gauge Train Ride
Our train tour includes transportation to and from Durango and round trip fare on the train. All tour guides are well versed in the pioneer and gold rush history of Pagosa, Durango and the train. Your trip to Durango will be scenic and informative with running commentary on the history of the area and its trains. The train cars are heated and have restrooms. A refreshment car is included on every trip. The train leaves Durango at 10am for a scenic ride up the Animas river valley. Beautiful ranches and colorful cliffs are the highlights of the mornings travel with an opportunity to see herds of elk and deer. The highlight of your tour is the beautiful Animas River Gorge. The train creeps up the narrow canyon above the raging Animas River over 500 feet below. A lunch stop in beautiful Cascade canyon, the train will turn around for the return trip back to Durango by 3:15pm. After an hour or so in historic Durango for shopping and sightseeing, we board the van for our return to Pagosa Springs. Bring and Wear: Camera, Binoculars, sweater or jacket for cooler weather, spending money for lunch and shopping in Durango. |
