Narrow Gauge Train Ride #2

Colorado’s highest and longest

  • 1880’s narrow gauge train
  • 9 hour tour departs at 7:15am returns by 4:30pm
  • Available: Monday through Friday (Late May through mid October)
  • All ages welcome, easy tour suitable for all ages

 Our tour takes us by bus, south to Chama, N.M. and then over the mountain passes of La Monga and Cumbres to Antonito, CO. Herds of elk and deer are often sighted along the route with occasional bear and other forest creatures.

We depart by train around 10am from the historic depot in Antonito for a ride over the high mountains with panoramic views or canyons and majestic valleys. Built in 1880, the Cumbres and Toltec Railroad is now jointly owned by the state of Co. and N.M. and is the highest and longest historic railroad in the U.S.. We will cross the CO.; N.M. borders numerous times and stop for lunch at the old R.R. Town of Osier. Our bus will pick you up near Chama, N.M. after your train ride for the short drive back to Pagosa Springs.

  • Included: Guide/driver, bus or Van transportation, and train fare.
  • Bring and wear: Camera, binoculars, comfortable walking shoes, sweater or jacket for cooler weather in the high mountains, and spending money for lunch and shopping.
